Missions
Between 2027 and 2028, two SPHERE analog missions (SAMs) will take place, one in Monsaraz, Portugal, and one in Piła, Poland. Students from selected schools in Austria, Germany, Greece, Poland and Portugal will prepare for the missions in these isolated sites by learning about space exploration and its significance in our daily lives, understanding the importance of preserving the Earth’s environment with hands-on experience, improving their digital skills, becoming problem solvers, and learning to collaborate. Their teachers will use innovative student-centred methodologies and new tools and technologies to integrate digital content into their curricula.
What makes SPHERE different from EXPLORE, its sister project, is that all schools in SPHERE will be able to create their own analog site and to host their own out-of-classroom simulations (SOCs). This makes it possible for a greater number of students to experience elements of a field simulation!
